True North Gems Begins Construction on Ruby Mine in Greenland

True North Gems recently announced that the firm and its partner LNSG Greenland A/S have commenced construction at the Aappaluttoq Ruby and Pink Sapphire project located in southwest Greenland.

Construction objectives include establishing accommodations for the construction crew as well as setting up onsite equipment facilities; operators anticipate that these moves will complete by 2015. “This exciting announcement marks the continuation of a very successful transition year for True North,” said Nicholas Houghton, president and CEO, to the media.

True North Gems Inc. is based in Vancouver, British Columbia, and is a public company dedicated to the exploration and development of colored gemstone deposits, and its partner-contractor the Leonhard Nilsen & Sønner Group is a major supplier of services to the oil, gas, and mineral industry in Greenland. If fruitful, the project will serve as the first ethically sourced commercial ruby mining operation, in partnership with the people of Greenland.
