Trend File: 5 Great Jewelry Moments From Paris Fashion Week

Paris Fashion Week, which began Sept. 26, is only half over. But the shows there have already racked up a number of unforgettable jewelry moments—notably from the city’s iconic maisonsincluding Christian Dior, which layered delicate gold necklaces in ever-so-cool a way, and Saint Laurent, which offered experiments in mismatched, fantastical-feeling earrings.

Read on to check out five of my favorite jewelry moments from the City of Lights.

Isabel Marant punctuated her collection of frilly, eyelet-filled separates—seemingly created exclusively for young, cool French girls—with a few key baubles. Cutest among these were the swingy drop earrings anchoring big silver balls that supermodel Gigi Hadid wore.

Artifact-inspired jewels at Chloe (Image: @chloe)

The debut collection for Chloe’s new creative director, Natacha Ramsay-Levi, was peppered by bohemian-feeling necklaces and earrings that might or might not have utilized real fossils and arrowheads.

Artful layering at Christian Dior (courtesy of Christian Dior)

Christian Dior designer Maria Grazia Chiuri made news with this collection by showing a striped shirt that read, “Why have there been no great women artists?” Great point. Thankfully, there has always been great jewelry at Dior. And this season was no different; Chiuri layered long, sophisticated gold chains, lariat necklaces, and hoop earrings fit for a grownup revolution.

Mismatched glory at Jacquemus (Image: @jacquesmus)

Easy-breezy French upstart brand Jacquesmus gussied up its beach-ready apparel with a rundown of mismatched, oversized earrings, in a rainbow of colors. One earring, worn as a single, was a simple string of squared-off, multicolored beads that hung past the shoulder. Simple and effective.

Saint Laurent showcased a stunning lineup of earrings—all in white metal, but with some gemstones—at its dramatic, nighttime runway show next to the Eiffel Tower. There were huge, swinging tribal-inspired looks and messy-chic wonders of styling, such as the overloaded emerald-cut ear scenario pictured above. Swoon.
