Top speakers to address GIA’s New York Jewelry Career Fair

Four of the gem and jewelry industry veterans are scheduled to address the opening “Working to Win” session of the Gemological Institute of America’s New York Jewelry Career Fair, which takes place July 29, 9 a.m.–3 p.m., at the Jacob K. Javits Convention Center.

The speakers are Mary Forté, president and CEO of Zale Corp.; Glenn Rothman, CEO and Founder of Hearts On Fire Company; Ofer Azrielant, CEO of Jewelry.com; and Rahul Kadakia, senior vice president and head of the Jewelry Department at Christie’s. They will offer job seekers insights into their success and tips on how to build a career in the industry.

Jewelry Career Fair, the industry’s largest one-day recruiting event, allows employers to meet candidates in an atmosphere that is conducive to success, says Kathryn Kimmel, GIA’s vice president of Marketing and Public Relations and a co-founder of the event. Recruiting takes place from 10:30 a.m. to 2:45 p.m.

Besides meeting with prospective employers, job seekers can also receive one-on-one career coaching from experienced industry experts. In addition, panel discussions will reveal how to succeed in specific skill areas. Attendees can also get advice on preparing a résumé and network with other job seekers.
