De Beers and Tiffany retail stores at the Westfield shopping center in London were victimized by smash-and-grab thieves who made off with jewelry allegedly worth hundreds of thousands of pounds, according to a local news report.

According to the report, up to 10 people attacked the stores after using sledgehammers to break into the shopping center complex early Wednesday morning. The suspects escaped following a high-speed chase. The crime is the latest in a series of smash-and-grab attacks in which more than £4 million worth of jewelry has been taken from jewelers and luxury stores across London.
