If there was ever a color that could be called an underdog, that color would be brown. Highly underrated and tragically underused, it’s a neutral that breathes new life into looks—they just have to be the right looks. Especially during autumn, when the warm tones of the earth echo in the apparel we choose. Now we wouldn’t go replacing the little black dress with a little brown dress by any means, but think warm, fuzzy sweaters, sleek work attire, or heck yes, even a formal gown. If you happen to need more convincing, here it is. Gemstones in smoky shades, rich cognac hues, and chocolatey-good colors are beyond tempting. When paired with silky gold tones or offset with sparkling diamonds in platinum or white gold, you just can’t go wrong. I personally love smoky quartz and brown sapphire—gemstones that, in my opinion, are so uncommon in truly fabulous designs that their sighting is refreshing and unexpected.
And it just so happens that Forrest Gump is celebrating its 20th anniversary, so what better way to salute a favorite film—and these delectable gems—than with a box of chocolates?
