The front-and-back style earring has held its place in the spotlight for quite some time now, since Dior popularized the look with its Mise en Dior double-sided pearl earrings (at least, that’s when I took notice). But in the interest of streamlined looks for fall, the minimalist take on this trend is the threader earring. This style mixes contemporary with classic, leaning more toward the traditional side of things by putting its focal point at the forefront and sending a long, usually hook-like wire through the back of the ear. The name for this look really comes from the way the wire appears to thread through the ear, sometimes all in one piece, other times, by using a clever, camouflaged earring back. I love this style because it maintains a bit of edge while remaining a graceful classic: It can keep up with the ear cuffs and climbers by way of trend power, but it’s minimal enough to outlast whatever we move on to next (so your customers can feel good about dropping a few more coins on a style like this). Here are five of my favorites.
