Jewels in the silhouette of the season
What shall we call this shape? Not quite an ellipse, nor an oval. A bulbous marquise, almond, eye? A football, even? Not quite: It has a curvy, billowy silhouette that isn’t so straightforward. It could be likened to a leaf, lending it a botanical vibe. What I most enjoy seeing in it—I suppose I’m a romantic—is the flickering light of a candle, a dancing flame that looks just this way. I like that a shape so distinct—at least in the sense that it’s what the following pieces have in common—is open for interpretation. It’s hard to put any name on a trend when you aren’t quite sure what to call it, but I have been seeing this one around a lot. So whatever you call it or however you see it, I’m just hoping we see a lot more of it.
