This season, in the world of fashion, a cuff bracelet is a favorite accessory to add panache to any look. The style of wearing a pair of matching cuffs is waning, even as the elaborateness of the bracelet designs increases.
The December 2010 issue of Allure features wide and extra wide cuffs in a variety of metals, noting that “Every gesture becomes grand with dramatic golden cuffs on your wrists.” The bracelets featured are a gold-plated brass cuff from Lizzie Fortunato Jewels; a gold cuff from Aurelie Bidermann; a hammered brass cuff from Pamela Love; a gunmetal cuff from Giambattista Valli; a brass, gold, and leather cuff from Fallon; a sterling silver cuff with pearls from Delfina Delettrez, and a gold-plated pewter cuff from Ben-Amun.
Actress Ashley Greene wears an elaborate single cuff of brass with hematite and black diamonds from Sequin in this photo from the November 2011 issue of Allure. She also wears long “gold-and-glass earrings with Swarovski crystals” by Erickson Beamon. Her dress is by Zac Posen.
Mixed metals are the theme in this feature from the October 2011 issue of Elle, shown with the comment: “Strike it rich in sculpted resin cuffs studded with chunks of silver and gold.” The bracelets are described as a resin and brass cuff from Louis Vuitton, a brass cuff from Vionnet, and a “resin cuff with details” from Vionnet.
A variety of cuff bracelets from Celine adorns the edge of a page in the October 2011 issue of Marie Claire.
The same styles of Celine cuffs appear in the November 2011 issue of Town & Country, along with a studded Plexiglas clutch from Stella McCartney.
A bracelet of sterling silver accented with sapphires and a matching ring appear in this ad for Metalsmiths Sterling.
A current ad for H. Stern features a chunky cuff bracelet of rock crystal and diamonds set in gold from the Cobblestones collection, along with matching earrings.
Not all cuff bracelets are chunky or visually heavy. A current ad for Leslie Greene features a delicately detailed cuff bracelet and matching earrings of gold and diamonds.
The Max Mara cuff bracelet pictured in the December 2011 Gift Guide from Allure magazine is described delightfully: “It sparkles. It gleams. It’s big. This gold-and-Swarovski-crystal cuff is a party on your wrist.” The “dressy, not stuffy” brass and quartz earrings also pictured on the page are from Etro.
An open-back cuff fits almost any wrist, making a cuff bracelet an ideal gift this holiday season.
