Going green has never looked this good
There’s this black diamond ring that struck my fancy about five or six years ago, and, though it’s found itself in the hands of a lucky owner since then, I still think about it sometimes. That ring was offered by diamond expert Leibish & Co., and I’ve enjoyed my correspondence with them ever since. Which is why I was thrilled when I heard that the jeweler has partnered with Gemfields (a name that is known both for its responsibly sourced and sensational colored gemstones and, most importantly, a commitment to better mining practices) to put forth an emerald jewelry collection. I hadn’t even seen the photos yet and I knew I’d be stunned—I was correct. I love it when that happens!
Ring in platinum and 18k yellow gold with 24.23 ct. Zambian emerald and 2.85 cts. t.w. fancy yellow and white diamonds, price on request
“Sustainable luxury” is the theme presented here, using Gemfields’ high-quality, ethically sourced natural stones to expand Leibish’s offering in the colored gem arena (the colored diamond expert only recently entered into that market).
Necklace in 18k yellow and white gold with 48.16 cts. t.w. emeralds and 13.37 cts. t.w. yellow and 3.11 cts. t.w. white diamonds, price on request
Currently, the collection is composed of a world-rocking 64.65 ct. emerald and yellow diamond necklace, a 24.23 ct. cushion emerald ring, and a couple of other pieces that you can see here, but company founder and president Leibish Polnauer hopes to create more (to which I say, yes please!), noting that “partnering with Gemfields and launching this collection was an important step towards taking action to make the world a better place.” Here, here.
