While taking a stand against the frivolities of fast fashion, many brands are now introducing their own versions of capsule collections: a line of goods that promise to stand the test of time, taste, and trend. These brands—both trusted and a number of already popular newcomers—are leading a movement toward simpler, but higher quality goods, those that exemplify the notion that high price equates with high quality. Sure, they cost more money, but they last longer, too. On the subject of jewelry, you could argue that a number of styles could fit into capsule collections: diamond studs, gold hoops, a strand of pearls. Though incredibly varied in style and price point, I nominate the cuff bracelet for inclusion, too. A good cuff provides the finishing touch to any ensemble, from holiday cocktail dresses to red carpet ball gowns. It’s what’s missing from so many actresses’ wrists during awards season—though when they do wear one, it’s what gets noticed. A cuff bracelet doesn’t get collected—it’s not often worn in groups like stacking bands or tiny earrings, nor layered like necklaces. But every jewelry lover should have at least one, and then, since new iterations keep challenging us not to purchase them, inevitably, one’s collection grows. Like a great trench coat or pair of shoes, a cuff bracelet is that timeless element in a woman’s wardrobe that’s worth the splurge, because it will see plenty of use throughout its long, everlasting lifetime. Here, a few irresistible choices.
