The Christie’s Important Jewels Sale in New York Makes $20 Million

The Oct. 20 Important Jewels sale at Christie’s New York had total sales of $19.97 million, with the top lot, a 75.56 ct. brilliant-cut fancy vivid yellow diamond ring, selling for $3.6 million.

The ring was estimated to bring $3 million–$4 million.

“Online bidding was an active element in the sale,” said a spokesperson, and online bids came in from Hong Kong, Indonesia, Monaco, the United Kingdom, and locations throughout the United States.

Other top lots included an 18.8 ct. marquise-cut D color diamond, which sold for $1.45 million; a 12.75 ct. heart-shape D color diamond, which sold for $965,000; and a 34.12 ct. cushion-cut fancy yellow diamond, which sold for $725,000.
