At the 86th Annual Academy Awards, held on Sunday, March 2, there were (finally!) a few more significant collar necklaces as well as a plethora of drop earrings. Also of note: more men’s pieces were noticeable in cufflink, shirt stud, and watch placements by Chopard, Harry Winston, and Fred Leighton, among others, in addition to a rise in rose gold styles (think Louise Roe in Chopard and Camila Alves in Lorraine Schwartz, in addition to others). Platinum and gold shared the spotlight, with the former—not surprisingly—playing a supporting role to many a significant stone, while the latter was used for a number of fashion-forward looks. In short, not a bad show! Still, wouldn’t we all love to see a year of real placements—ones that aren’t bought and paid for—that reflect stars’ real styles? I wonder how different this mix of looks would be.
