I love Miami. I love its sunny-side-up personality, its luscious beaches, its beautiful-people restaurants. Plus, I never turn down an opportunity to spend time near the beach. So when JCK acquired the JIS Show at the Miami Beach Convention Center earlier this year, I was more than happy to set aside a week in October to make the trip to Latin America’s unofficial capital.
The first thing you notice when you walk around JIS—as well as its sister show, LUXURY Miami, which made its debut in a ballroom adjacent to the main show—is how Latin it is. The buyers hail from Brazil, Colombia, Mexico, Chile, Venezuela, the islands of the Caribbean, and Florida, among other places. It’s no surprise to find that the exhibitors who cater to them specialize in colorful styles ideal for warm-weather climates.
Over the course of my three days cruising the shows—LUXURY ran Oct. 14–16, and JIS ran Oct. 15–18—I found many pieces that I coveted. These five (well, technically six, if you count both of Sara Weinstock’s pendants) were among my faves:
