Warwick Jewelers in Exton, Pa., collaborated with Cupcakes Gourmet bakery to design a $55,000 red velvet cupcake topped with an 8 ct. diamond ring.
“The bakery approached us with the idea,” says Barry Maglin, owner of the store. “We decided the 8 ct. diamond would be the perfect accessory for the promotion. You don’t see a diamond like that everyday.”
A man in Texas purchased the gift last week and plans on giving it to his wife for Valentine’s Day.
Although the store designed only one jeweled baked good for this year’s Valentine’s Day, they plan on offering more options in the near future. “We look forward to further developing our relationship with Cupcakes Gourmet,” Maglin says. “We are currently developing ideas for more affordable diamond cupcakes.”
