Swiss Watch Sales Rise Again

The Swiss watch industry continued its recovery as exports rose 3.6 percent in July, the third month in a row they have risen, according to the Federation of the Swiss Watch Industry.

The recovery was led by strong exports to Hong Kong, which saw a 16.8 percent increase in demand. The Chinese market also saw 22.3 percent growth.

The United States was not as strong, however; exports increased 1.4 percent in the month, slightly correcting the prior negative trend. Sales to France, Italy, and the United Kingdom all decreased, but German sales rose 13.4 percent.

Prior to this recent uptick, Swiss watch exports had fallen for 19 months in a row.
