Subscribers to Harper’s
Bazaar and those who read its December issue online at Zinio.com, a mobile
reading application featuring digital editions of popular magazines, will be
treated to one very sparkly cover.

Pop star Katy Perry was
shot for the magazine’s December issue, and one image features her lips adorned
with 150 different ruby-red Swarovski crystal elements, shot by photographer
Alexi Lubomirski. Hearst confirmed to JCK that only Harper’s Bazaar subscribers
and readers who download the issue on Zinio.com can view the cover; newsstand
issues feature a different, un-crystallized shot of Perry.
“When you log onto
Zinio.com, you’ll see the digital issue with interactive features, video of the
shoot, and sparkly effects,” said a publicist.
Readers also have a chance to win Atelier Swarovski jewelry by looking for
video instructions in the December Zinio.com edition and finding the Swarovski
Elements interactive advertising spread.
