Leibish & Co. Comes Out on Top for Argyle Pink Diamond Tender

Leibish & Co. secured 26 of the 65 rare and exquisite diamonds featured at the Argyle Pink Diamonds tender this month.

The diamond trading company was one of 200 represented at the invitation-only secret showing, where Argyle Diamonds’ owner Rio Tinto displayed the best and most coveted new stones to come out of the mine.

“Tender diamonds are considered one in a million, as for every one million carats of rough diamonds, only one carat of polished is offered for sale at the tender,” said Josephine Johnson, manager at Argyle Pink Diamonds.

Leibish & Co. chief diamond buyer Shmulik Polnauer, says the difficult part of bidding on diamonds at a tender is understanding the stones’ market potential.

“You need to fully understand the market prices and the value the stones possess,” said Polnauer. “Dealing with fancy color diamonds day in and day out, I know the trends, what’s hot, and what people are after.”
