Panama Diamond Exchange to Host Nation’s President at Opening of Jewelry Center

Latin American diamond company Panama Diamond Exchange (PDE) is set to host an opening event for the new Panama Gem & Jewelry Center on March 17 with a high-profile guest list.

PDE will draw legions of industry leaders as well as the Panama’s President Ricardo Martinelli as the guest of honor. The center will be the first facility for diamond, jewelry, and colored stone trades in the region. At $200 million, the building will feature a trading floor, numerous offices, and eventually a high-rise tower with a jewelry mall.

“Visitors to Panama will most definitely have their eyes opened,” said Erez Akerman, PDE president, in a press release. “The fact that the Panama Gem & Jewelry Center has the support of the Panamanian government and parliament, which view it as a strategic asset, makes the whole project even more exciting.”
