Gesswein Joins Continental Buying Group

Gesswein has joined Continental Buying Group (CBG) as a supplier member, giving the group’s more than 90 independent jewelry retailers year-round access to the company’s tools, equipment, consumables, and technical expertise.

For retailers with active repair and manufacturing operations, the partnership is positioned as a bench-focused resource. “Our members are independent jewelers who build and repair at the bench every day,” said CBG CEO Joe Murphy in a statement. “Gesswein brings deep expertise to that work, and we are excited to put that knowledge in front of our retailers.”

CBG president Matt Tratner said the company also will provide an exclusive member offer, while Gesswein vice president Roger Gesswein III emphasized the year-round nature of the relationship: “We want to work with these retailers all year, as a partner that contributes to their growth and success.”

The fourth-generation family-owned supplier will also exhibit at both CBG community events in 2027: CBG Miami, Jan. 18–20 at the JW Marriott Turnberry; and CBG Las Vegas, June 1–3 at Caesars Palace.

Oscar Heyman Releases A Living Archive Holiday Book

Oscar Heyman has introduced A Living Archive, a limited-edition holiday book featuring 112 one-of-a-kind jewels valued at more than $22 million, alongside material from the brand’s 114-year archive. The book will be shipped to partner retailers in time for the holiday selling season, with a digital edition also available on Oscar Heyman’s website.

The publication pairs newly created jewelry with historic references including plaster molds, design drawings, antique books, and vintage advertisements from JCK, Town & Country, and The New York Times. “The Oscar Heyman archive represents 114 years of discovery, design, and craftsmanship,” said company president Tom Heyman in a statement. “Showcasing newly created treasures atop old plaster molds or archive photos depicts how innovative ideas are preserved and then reimagined.”

Rio Grande Expands Holiday Lineup

Rio Grande has expanded its holiday 2026 offerings with new gemstones, chain services, testing equipment, laser personalization systems, and finished jewelry aimed at helping jewelers manage faster turnaround times during the busiest selling season.

New precision-cut sapphires and emeralds are sized for ready-to-set and CAD-driven work, while made-to-order and cut-to-order chain services give retailers more flexibility for custom lengths, repairs, and quick-turn requests without carrying as much inventory. The supplier also has added mixed-metal, gold-filled, and sterling silver chain styles; the compact Gemlogis Belize Pro for screening natural and lab-grown diamonds, moissanite, and simulants; and xTool laser systems for bringing engraving and personalization in-house. “Holiday season puts pressure on turnaround time, and that’s where having the right tools and access to reliable services can make a difference,” said Dennis Claspell, Rio Grande vice president of sales and marketing, in a statement.
