Diamond Empowerment Fund Donates to Botswana Top Achiever Program

At a dinner reception in New York City on Sept. 24, the Diamond Empowerment Fund (DEF) donated $13,000 to the Botswana Top Achiever Program, which awards students across Botswana with the chance to study at premier universities around the world.

The ceremony, which hosted Botswana president Mokgweetsi E.K. Masisi, took place on the evening of the 73rd United Nations General Assembly.

A contributor since 2011, DEF asks the students awarded in the program to return to Botswana to contribute to its economic diversification.

“Everyone from Botswana attending this reception tonight in some way benefits from diamonds,” said President Masisi in his remarks during the event. “We thank the Diamond Empowerment Fund for investing in the future of our next generation of leaders.”
