JAGi Now Offering Services to Jewelry Retailers and Manufacturers

The Jewelry Appraisal and Gemological Institute (JAGi) has announced the expansion of its services to include the entire retail jewelry industry. The group is opening its JAGi CardCert reports—independent, third-party diamond grading and appraisal—to jewelry retailers and manufacturers.

“JAGi is responding to an important need from the pawnbroker for an ethical authority that enables them to achieve maximum value and increased profits from all jewelry, diamond, and gemstone sales of their inventory,” said chief executive officer Moris Adato in a statement. “We are bringing our wide range of experience with grading and appraising diamonds and jewelry to the retailers who need an accurate, value-priced certificate.”

Founded just more than three years ago by graduate gemologist Moris Adato and diamond and jewelry business consultant Jim Littman, JAGi originally served the pawnbroker industry. Each of the lab’s appraisals are performed by GIA graduate gemologists, with marginal fees beginning at $24.95. JAGi offers a number of other services in addition to its grading reports, including parcel sorting, cleaning, repair, diamond recut analysis, polishing, and Rolex certification.
