Scholarships Available for Jewelry Symposium

The Jewelry Symposium (TJS) is now accepting applications from students and aspiring jewelers for scholarships to attend its 2026 event dedicated to the advancement of jewelry manufacturing technology, taking place May 16-19, 2026, in Metro Detroit.

“The attrition of skilled labor in the fine jewelry industry makes an event like TJS more relevant and more necessary than ever,” said TJS board chairman Linus Drogs in a statement. “We welcome new and returning participants for 2026 and move their careers to the next level. We are grateful to our generous sponsors, especially GIA, Eddie Bell, Techform, and Mano Acero Jewelry for funding the scholarships.”

Students, interns, apprentices, and others early in their career in any field of the jewelry industry may apply for a TJS scholarship—which covers the cost of event registration and three nights at the host hotel, the Detroit Marriott Troy. Deadline for applying is Jan. 5, 2026.

Kira Introduces Customization Service

Lab-grown diamond company Kira has debuted Kira Custom Lab Jewelry to streamline the custom jewelry design and production process, with a turnaround time between 10 and 15 days, depending on the complexity of the design.

The fully integrated new “one-stop” service offers jewelry retailers, designers, manufacturers, and e-commerce businesses direct access to Kira’s extensive diamond inventory, complimentary CAD design, photorealistic rendering approvals, multiple quality control checkpoints, fast delivery, and optional drop shipping.

“Very few manufacturers in the industry offer this level of end-to-end integration,” said Mehul Vaghani, founder and CEO of Kira, in a statement. “As the demand for custom designs continues to rise, we saw an opportunity to simplify the process, especially for retailers, who often juggle multiple vendors for stones, design, and manufacturing.

“Kira Custom Lab Jewelry is the first service of its kind offered directly by a lab-grown diamond grower, making the creation of custom jewelry faster, easier and more seamless than ever,” Vaghani said.
