Istanbul Jewelry Show Closes With Record Visitors

The Istanbul Jewelry Show finished its 48th run on March 24, 2019, after welcoming a record 30,741 visitors from 123 countries.

The March show saw a 9 percent increase in the number of overseas visitors over 2018. It also saw a 15 percent increase in its number of European attendees, an 8 percent increase in visits from Commonwealth Independent States, and a 9 percent increase in those visitors traveling from North Africa.

A roster of 301 exhibitors were new to the show this year—78 domestic, 25 international—and the show’s annual Designer Market showcased the talents of new and veteran designers together in one place.

“We are very happy to have successfully organized our exhibition, which sets the agenda of the world jewelry sector and its professionals for the 48th time under the sponsorship of the Türk Ekonomi Bankasi (TEB),” said Sermin Cengiz, founding partner of UBM Rotaforte, organizer of the Istanbul Jewelry Show. “The ability of Turkish companies to produce a wide range of products and services at different price ranges for various markets, and Turkey’s jewelry history of 7,000 years, placed our country among the top countries of the world jewelry sector.”

Manufacturer of diamond and gemstone-testing devices Presidium has received the Assure Tested Certification Mark from the Diamond Producers Association (DPA), it recently announced. The mark comes after vigorous testing of the manufacturer’s diamond verification instruments.

Presidium’s SDS II, which retails for less than $1,000, received 100 percent accuracy on the synthetic diamond referral rate.

“We are very pleased with the results of our diamond verification instrument, the SDS II, and are confident of its capability to deliver benefits to this industry,” said managing director Joanne Yeo in a statement. “It is important that the trade makes informed decisions on the right instruments based on their testing requirements and budget. With the Assure directory, they can now access objective and third party-verified testing results provided by any diamond verification instruments, and also receive guidance on how to ensure their business is protected from undisclosed synthetic diamonds.”

In addition to this certification, Presidium has announced that it’s seeking testers to take part in a one-month free trial of its SDS II, in return for a review that the company can post online. The company is specifically looking for users across Europe, the Americas, and Asia. Those interested can contact its PR company via email at: london@facetspr.com.
