Exhibitors at the 2025 JCK or Luxury show in Las Vegas can enter an original design in the Jose Hess Design Awards competition, which is accepting submissions until Feb. 28.
Named in honor of award-winning designer and GIA graduate Jose Hess, a pioneering champion of design-driven jewelry in America, the competition aims to continue Hess’ legacy as it discovers and supports talent in the fine jewelry industry.
The theme of this year’s awards contest is radiance, which “celebrates enduring beauty and invites designers to create jewelry that captures the essence of lasting elegance and brilliance,” according to a statement from the nonprofit Jose Hess Design Awards organization.
Participants must submit a sketch or CAD rendering, created specifically for the awards and inspired by this year’s theme, in the category of fine jewelry. The jewelry piece must be made of 18k gold or platinum, and only natural diamonds and precious stones are permitted.
Designs will be judged on technical proficiency, quality workmanship, finishing, and craft. Finalists will be notified in early April and will need to provide photography and video of the finished pieces by May 1 for final judging. Winners will be announced at an awards reception during the 2025 JCK Las Vegas, taking place June 6–9.
Hess’ career spanned more than five decades, and his achievements included being the first American president of the World Jewellery Confederation (CIBJO) and a founding member of the American Jewelry Design Council.
