Structured Bangles Sizzle

Bracelets have been having a moment—worn solo, in pairs, and in stacks of multiples—with every indication of continuing prominence in fashion editorial and personal jewelry wardrobes. Adding unusual shapes to a stack of bangles brings a pleasing complexity to the mix. Worn singly, structured bangles can play off the design elements of apparel and other accessories and provide an edgy take on adornment of the wrist.

In the July–August 2012 issue of More, actress Kyra Sedgwick is pictured wearing a square gold-plated brass cuff from Robyn Rhodes Jewelry with a bright silk dress from Tory Burch.

Actress-singer-dancer Julianne Hough is pictured in the July 2012 issue of Glamour wearing a pyramid bangle from Melinda Maria and square bangles from Lynn Ban. Her ensemble is by Pierre Balmain and her sunglasses from A-Morir; her ring or rings are not identified.

The June–July 2012 issue of Town & Country features a pair of square Donna Karan New York wood bangles, along with a pair of pearl lariat necklaces from Bittersweet Designs in a fashion spread on stylish travel.

A feature on evening looks from the June 2012 issue of Allure adds CC Skye sterling silver and crystal bangles to a silk dress from Banana Republic and a Celestina stingray clutch.

The June 2012 issue of Family Circle pictures a pair of square bangles from R.J. Graziano and a shark’s-tooth necklace from Vince Camuto with swimsuits from 1 Sol Swim, H&M, and Trina Turk.

The May 2012 issue of  Harper’s Bazaar highlights a structured bangle from Balenciaga by Nicolas Ghesquière.

Elsewhere in the May 2012 issue, Bazaar asserts that structured bangles are one of the month’s object of desire, and features a large stack of multi-shape bangles from Alexis Bittar. Also selected is a necklace incorporating fossils from Melissa Joy Manning.

Structured bangles will continue to sizzle long after summer is gone. “International It Girl” Claire Courtin-Clarins models this cutting-edge look in the July 2012 issue of Marie Claire. She wears a pair of clear square bracelets on one wrist and a silver cuff on the other, all from Alexis Bittar. She also wears spike earrings from Luis Moria and an ear cuff from Repossi along with her own gold hoop earrings, plus rings from Repossi, Stephen Webster, Phillips Frankel, and Deborah Pagani. The fur vest is from Michael Kors, worn with Helmut Lang pants and a Jean Paul Gaultier belt.
