Sterling Jewelers Promotes Bouffard to VP of PR

Sterling Jewelers Inc., the largest specialty jewelry retailer in the U.S., has promoted David Bouffard to vice president, Public Relations.

In his new role, Bouffard is responsible for consumer and trade media relations, as well as issues management, corporate store promotions, promotional public relations, and cause-related marketing—which includes managing the company’s partnership with St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.

“With the continued growth of the company, we are proud to promote and recognize individuals like David, whose hard work and dedication have contributed significantly to Sterling’s strong results,” said Mark Light, president and chief executive officer of Sterling Jewelers Inc. “We wish David much success in his exciting new role.”

Bouffard joined Sterling Jewelers in 1981 in field operations. In his 26-year career with the company, he has been promoted to a number of management positions within the merchandising, advertising, and marketing departments.

Bouffard holds a bachelor’s degree from Widener University in Chester, Pa., and a Masters of Business Administration in Marketing and Finance from Case Western Reserve University in Cleveland, Ohio. He is accredited in public relations and is a Gemological Institute of America Graduate Gemologist. Bouffard currently serves on the Jewelry Information Center Board of Directors, and is a member of Leadership Akron.

Akron, Ohio-based Sterling Jewelers Inc. operates 1,307 stores in all 50 states and employs more than 17,000 associates. Sterling trades under national brands including “Kay Jewelers” and “Jared The Galleria of Jewelry,” as well as a variety of regional names. Sterling is the U.S. division of London-based Signet Group plc, making it part of the largest specialty jewelry retailer in the world.
