Stanley Goodman, Viriginia Jeweler, Dies

Stanley Goodman, founder of
Goodman and Sons Jewelers in Hampton and Williamsburg, Virg., died at Riverside
Regional Medical Hospital Sept. 8 at age 83 after complications from a long
illness.

Goodman founded the company in
1947 when he got out of the Navy, when he established stores on local military bases.

Goodman’s three sons still work in
the family business, and his daughter and her husband owns A. Altier Jewelers
in Coral Springs, Fla.

“He was very warm compassionate
humble man,” says son Edward. “He loved to support different causes in the
community. He took great pride in his family.  He lived and breathed the jewelry business. To take a
vacation, was to go to a show.”

He is survived by wife Lena, sons
Stuart, Eric and Edward (“Ned”) and daughter Debra, as well as numerous
grandchildren and greatchildren.

His full obit and guestbook can be
seen here.
