Eight-Legged Treats: Spider Jewels for Spooky Season

Share

I’ve been having dreams about spiders. Not always nightmares—though given my arachnophobia, they’re not exactly good dreams—but in them, spiders keep appearing in the strangest places.

I consulted Google (in lieu of a dream interpreter) for what it might mean, and apparently spiders in dreams could represent something negative or something positive. Spidery dreams might occur due to anxiety or feeling trapped (honestly, who isn’t feeling that way these days?), but they may also signify creativity, patience, and transformation. I’m gonna go with somewhere between the two.

One place I never mind seeing spiders, though, is in jewelry. Now that we’re into the month of Halloween, this is an ideal time to look for spider jewelry, yet it’s a motif that can be captivating year-round and needn’t be confined to seasonal whimsy.

There’s a dark elegance to the spider, whether set in gold or another metal or dotted with all manner of gemstones, that makes a spider jewel not just a creepy adornment but a talisman, and an ode to creativity, perseverance, and fierce strength—all attributes of real spiders (which is what makes them both terrifying and beguiling).

We love spider jewels this time of year, but don’t confuse them for a Halloween gimmick. These fine pieces weave a narrative of elegant power year-round.
