Sotheby’s worldwide jewelry sales totaled $460.5 million in 2012, representing the highest yearly total in the company’s history.
Throughout the year, 72 lots sold for more than $1 million each.
In May of 2012, Sotheby’s Geneva set a new world auction record of $108.4 million for a various owner jewelry sale.
Contributing to the yearly record high, Sotheby’s December auction in New York City earned $64.8 million, making it the company’s highest ever sale during a single day in the Americas.
