Smartwatch Sales Have Doubled, Survey Says

Sales of smartwatches surged 250 percent in the first quarter of 2014, a new sector survey says.

Research firm Strategy Analytics also found that Samsung is the king of the fledgling market, dominating rivals Pebble and Motorola.

According to CNET, Samsung has already shipped a half million Galaxy Gears—despite mixed reviews—though it cautions that number does not measure sell-through. Still, that figure means Samsung now accounts for 70 percent of the category, it says.
