The New York offices of Silver Trust International and the Silver Information Center are closing, effective October 12.
The announcement was made in a letter from Linda Meehan, former SIC director. In business for 14 years, the SIC was responsible for creating promotional and educational programs, as well as creating advertising and public relations opportunities, offering editorial and press information, and collecting market data. The STI/SIC office was supported by monies from various international silver mining companies, which in light of continued low silver prices, have had to cut costs.
The Silver Institute, the parent group of STI and the SIC, continues to operate from its Washington, D.C., headquarters. Meehan’s letter said the Institute hopes to reinstate some of the consumer marketing programs in the future. Its phone number is 202-835-0185.
