Signet Group PLC, the world’s largest specialty retail jeweler, said in a statement that third-quarter sales at stores open at least a year increased 4.7%.
Same-store sales gained 4.5% in the United States and 5% in the United Kingdom in the 13 weeks that ended Nov. 1, the London-based company said. Total sales for the quarter was approximately $483.1 million, an increase of 7.1% at constant exchange rates 3.8% at actual exchange rates.
Total group sales for the 39 week-period ended Nov. 1, was $1.6 billion, an increase of 5.5% at constant exchange rates and a decrease of 0.5% at actual exchange rates, reflecting the weakening of the U.S. dollar, the company said. Total same-store sales rose 3.3%, with U.S. stores recording a 2.8% gain and U.K. stores showing a 4.7% gain.
Signet operates 1,694 specialty retail jewelry stores, including 1,092 stores in the U.S., where the Group trades as “Kay Jewelers,” “Jared The Galleria Of Jewelry,” and under a number of regional names. The company operates 602 stores in the U.K., where the Group trades as “H.Samuel,” “Ernest Jones,” and “Leslie Davis.”
