Signet has become an Alrosa client, meaning it now buys rough direct from the Russian diamond producer, both parties confirmed.
Signet is Alrosa’s second U.S. customer, joining another retailer, Tiffany & Co.
Signet’s contract was signed in the third quarter and runs through Dec. 31, 2017.
Signet also buys rough from De Beers and Rio Tinto. The only major diamond miner it does not currently buy from is Dominion.
It recently opened up a New York City office to sell its excess diamonds.
