Sears Cutting 400 Corporate Jobs

Troubled Sears Holdings plans to trim about 400 jobs at its corporate office and global support facilities.

Most of these cuts will affect the corporate workforce at Sears Holdings’ headquarters in Hoffman Estates, Ill.

Those reductions are on top of the 130 job cuts it announced in February, as well as plans to close 150 stores.

The actions are expected to save the company nearly $1 billion this year.

“We are making progress with the fundamental restructuring of our operations that we initiated in February,” said Edward S. Lampert, chairman and CEO of Sears Holdings, in a statement.
