The 2018 Saul Bell Design Award has issued a call for entries, says organizer Rio Grande.
For the competition’s 18th year, there are nine categories: Gold/Platinum, Silver, Enamel, Hollowware/Art Objects, Alternative Metals/Materials, Emerging Jewelry Artist (with two tiers: high school and college age), and Jewelry Collection (also two tiers: couture/fine and fashion-bridge).
This year, the award is no longer offering metal clay as a distinct category. Designers are encouraged to submit PMC work in the silver or gold category, or their base-metal clay work in the alternative metals/materials category.
The winning pieces will be displayed at the Plumb Club during the 2018 JCK Las Vegas show. Entries will be accepted through October 26, 2017. Finalist pieces will be due by January 25, 2018. More information is available at www.saulbellaward.com.
