It started with a direct message on Instagram—a buyer at Stanley Korshak was sparkle scrolling and stumbled on designer’s Sarah Ho’s feed, and that was that. As of October, the lion’s share of the Hong Kong–born British jeweler’s new Bright Young Things series has been off and running within a pop-up format at the luxury Dallas department store.

“It was a joy designing each and every one of these pieces, and it’s an honor to be able to show my work at such a prestigious store,” Ho said in a statement.

During the quarantine lockdown in England, Ho moved her family to the vibrant principality of Monaco and used the time to indulge her passion for colored gemstones such as aquamarine, opal, morganite, and rubellite and to experiment with a new metal combining aluminum and titanium that can be anodized to display a spectrum of hues. Enamel has long been part of her design vocabulary, but the newest pieces give it pride of place to dizzying effect in shades ranging from the palest peach and lilac to vibrant fuchsia and orange.

Meanwhile, the designer’s work is enjoying similar airtime over at Bergdorf Goodman in New York. After a successful debut at the store in 2019, Sarah Ho jewels have returned for a limited-time pop-up event with a selection of pieces from Bright Young Things, including many that incorporate her signature pearls.

“Last time I exhibited in Bergdorf Goodman, I only had a couple of natural pearl pieces,” Ho tells JCK. “I now have many natural pearl pieces in store, and I hope the Bergdorf Goodman clients will fall in love with this natural gem like I have.”

Among the options at Bergdorf’s are the Clara earrings, which incorporate natural pearls repurposed from a variety of antique jewels—a laborious undertaking to ensure they all matched in size and color. Also, they are not cultured but harvested in the wild, likely from the Arabian Sea.
