Roy Lewis Forman, 77, owner of The Marathon Co.

Roy Lewis Forman, 77, of 6 Westford Rd., Providence, died May 8, 2007, at Miriam Hospital. He was the husband of Joanne (Short) Forman.

Born in Providence, the son of the late Max and Sylvia (Rosen) Forman, he was a lifelong resident of the city.

A graduate of The Moses Brown School and Brown University, Mr. Forman was the owner of The Marathon Co., in Attleboro, Mass.

He was a member of Temple Beth El; he loved to garden, was an avid Red Sox fan, and enjoyed playing the piano and spending his summers on the Cape.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by his children and their spouses, Roger and Gwen Forman of Walpole, Mass., Guy and Pamela Forman of Needham, Mass., and Deborah Forman and her husband Matthew Finger of Providence; his sister, Audrey Robbins of Providence; and his grandchildren, Brianne, Mack, Lucy, Charlotte, Julia, Caroline, and Nathaniel. He was the brother of the late Jill Forman Starr.

Funeral services were held Thursday in Temple Beth El, Providence, with burial in Sons of Israel & David Cemetery. Shiva will be observed at his late residence on Thursday 5-8 p.m. and Friday 2-4 p.m. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Temple Beth El or to Miriam Hospital, 164 Summit Ave., Providence, RI 02906. The family was assisted with their arrangements by Sugarman-Sinai Memorial Chapel.
