Rolex, Cartier, Tiffany, Chow Tai Fook All Land on Most Valuable Brands List

Rolex was the top-listed jewelry or watch brand

Rolex is the No. 1 brand in the industry, at least according to Brand Finance’s annual list of the world’s most valuable brands.

Rolex topped all other watch and jewelry brands in 2017, landing in 216th place, up from 232nd place last year. Jewelry and watch retailer Cartier was just below it, at 224th place, a steep fall from last year’s ranking of 161.

Tiffany & Co. was in 404th place, down from 368th last year. Topping that was Chinese jeweler Chow Tai Fook, which was in 333rd place, up from its 424th ranking in 2016.

Other jewelry-selling brands that made the list: Nordstrom (No. 351), Macy’s (No. 298), Louis Vuitton (No. 101), and Gucci (No. 219).

The most valuable brand overall was Google, unseating traditional champ Apple, which fell to No. 2.

“Put simply, Apple has over-exploited the goodwill of its customers,” said the report. “It has failed to generate significant revenues from newer products such as the Apple Watch.”

Brand Finance’s annual list ranks brands based on annual revenues and the company’s analysis of the brand’s strength in the marketplace.
