Rio Tinto’s 2009 Argyle Pink Diamond Tender celebrated the 25th anniversary of its rare pink diamonds with its first ever viewing in India.

The collection, Grand Passions, comprised 43 of the rarest diamonds in the world and has been showcased in Mumbai to a select group of Indian diamantaires, collectors and high net worth individuals.

The collection included Argyle AmourTM, a 2.61carat intense pink heart shaped diamond, AmourShalimarTM, a 1.25 carat purplish pink round diamond and ScarlettTM, a 1.10 carat red oval diamond.

The Argyle Pink Diamond Tender will also travel to a number of other locations before concluding in Perth, Australia in late September.

Rio Tinto’s diamond business also celebrated the 20th anniversary of its Mumbai office.

Brian Cox, managing director of Rio Tinto Diamonds, noted that approximately two-thirds of Rio Tinto’s production by value is sold to India.
