Rio Grande Calls for Entries for the 2016 Saul Bell Design Award Competition

Rio Grande is now accepting entries for the 2016 Saul Bell Design Award competition.

The international competition is now in its 16th year and encourages designers to push the limits of their skills and imaginations to create original jewelry art.

Seven categories exist: gold/platinum, silver/argentium silver, metal clay, enamel, hollowware/art objects, alternative metals/materials, and emerging jewelry artist. The emerging jewelry artist category is open to designers who are 21 years of age or younger as of Oct. 23.

Judges include jewelers and other industry leaders who are masters of their craft and will look for originality of design, successful incorporation of materials, wearability, and quality of workmanship as they examine each finalist’s piece both by hand and on a model.

Entries are accepted from Aug. 5–Oct. 23, and finalists’ finished pieces are due by Jan. 30, 2016. Winning pieces will be on display in the Plumb Club during the 2016 JCK Las Vegas show.
