If you didn’t know from looking at the calendar that today is May 1, then you might have noticed it from the start of Richline’s online promotions for May Is Gold Month.
The publicly held company owned by Berkshire Hathaway set Mayisgoldmonth.com (a domain it also owns) live in mid-April. Expect three interviews a week to run (including one with yours truly that went live today) with subjects digital marketing and PR manager Michael Schechter calls “industry luminaries from around the world,” as well as a sweepstakes, Pinterest.com trend boards, and a Pinterest.com contest to win—what else?—gold jewelry.
Fourteen retail partners, including QVC, Fred Meyer Jewelers, and Amazon.com are supporting the efforts and promoting gold month in their own ways online, in stores, and on air. “We’re excited bring one of the largest groups of jewelry retailers together to help create excitment for gold,” says Schechter. “We’re fortunate to have such wonderful partners in this event.”
Primarily, the content aims to highlight trends and “what’s hot in gold,” adds Schechter. Weekly email blasts to thousands of consumers, some who’ve signed up online, help to fuel interest and will hopefully drive more sales. “Response—based on the data—has been great so far,” he says.
