Rhode Island Jeweler Relocates to Former Bank

Gold Lady Jewelers in Wickford, R.I., relocated to a former bank Dec. 14.

In connection with the grand opening, the store is hosting a sale for the
holidays with everything specially priced.

Store manager Lisa Malin tells JCK that the old location, right across the
street from the new one, was leased for 30 years. “It’s a nice accomplishment
for us,” she says.

Located in ocean-side Wickford Village, Gold Lady Jewelers gained a parking lot with the relocation. “And there’s a really wonderful walk-in vault that makes life easier for us,”
says Malin.

In addition to a vault, the store expanded the workshop as well. “We
have in-house jewelers that have done everything from redesigning heirloom
pieces to designing new custom pieces,” Malin says.

Owner Charles Phillips purchased the new building—which was actually built in the 1920s—in September and spent five weeks renovating the space.

Malin says customer response has been positive. “They are very impressed with
the physical building. It’s an old building with beautiful architecture.”

On top of its grand opening, Gold Lady Jewelers is celebrating 30
years of business. Malin says the store’s address—No. 30—is not the only eerie thing in correlation with the new building.

“The street name that we’re on is Phillips and the owner’s last name is
Phillips,” she says. “It’s the kind of thing that gives you chills.”
