Jewelry, for all its symbolism and sentimentality, doesn’t always need to communicate the deepest meaning. Sometimes, it can simply be fun. And what could be more fun than a colorful, distinctively shaped—and affordable—piece of jewelry? That’s resin, baby.
For designers, resin is a blank canvas. Colors can be mixed and swirled (as in the dreamy Crystal Haze bangle pictured above), with glitter, pigments, and unexpected inclusions adding layers of personality. Jewelry-makers can even treat resin like a precious metal, setting it with gemstones. Alison Lou, for example, has embraced the medium with a collection that pairs resin with lab-grown diamonds—very much on-brand with its colorful offerings.
Consumers, meanwhile, are drawn to resin for obvious reasons: It looks great, and it’s refreshingly accessible. Social media has only amplified the lively material’s appeal, user feeds flooded with bold, glossy styles that feel perfectly in step with the ongoing ’90s and Y2K revival. “Gimme Gummy,” one of Pinterest’s predicted 2026 trends, captures the mood exactly—an aesthetic built on playful, 3D jewelry in every imaginable color, with extra points if it resembles a gummy bear (see the yummy collection of charms from CCWW, below).
But just because resin jewelry is fun doesn’t mean it’s frivolous. As shoppers increasingly seek pieces that express their individuality, resin offers a way to experiment with color and form in ways that might be difficult—or prohibitively expensive—to achieve with colored gemstones and precious metals. It allows wearers to curate a look that feels personal, joyful, and uniquely their own.
How can you not smile at this rainbow of the latest resin jewels?
