A pair of reports, all quoting unnamed sources, have teased—then poured cold water on—a possible merger between the Coach and Burberry brands.
Earlier today, the financial blog Betaville reported that Coach is working with Evercore on a possible $20 million merger. The news caused a spike in Burberry’s stock.
A little later, a report in Reuters, also quoting unnamed sources, suggested no merger was forthcoming.
“Burberry is not talking to Coach,” one source said.
