He worked for the Boston-based manufacturer for 50 years, starting at age 14
On Dec. 23, J. & S.S. DeYoung salesman Aster J. Dye died in Brockton, Mass. He was 73.
Born in London, Dye first went to work at Boston-based jewelry manufacturer J. & S.S. DeYoung at age 14 as an after-school job. He went on to spend 50 years there, working as a buyer and supervisor for their manufacturing and repair department. He also became a popular salesman for the company, nurturing a loyal base of retail customers.
After retiring from DeYoung, Dye founded his own business, A.J. Dye.
He is survived by wife Mary Ann, four sons, and eight grandchildren.
