Reeds Jewelers announced that it will accept digital currency bitcoin.
The 64-store chain is partnering with Coinbase to accept bitcoin transactions on its website. Reeds will also accept bitcoin payments at its physical locations using digital tablets. Customers must have a bitcoin wallet to participate.
“Reeds was one of the first jewelers with a digital presence, launching our website in 1998, and being the first fine jeweler to accept bitcoin in all retail locations and online at Reeds.com is a natural evolution,” said Alan Zimmer, the company’s president and CEO, in a statement.
JCK covered bitcoin in its April issue, and there was a seminar on the subject at the recent JCK show in Las Vegas.
