Record-Breaking Attendance at JCK’s LUXURY Privé New York Show

JCK’s fourth annual LUXURY Privé New York show came to a close last week, after three very successful days. The exclusive show, held for the first time at the Waldorf Astoria’s famed Grand Ballroom, saw a 65 percent rise in attendance over previous years.

The addition of 25 new exhibitors, as well as a new registration policy welcome to all qualified buyers, is thought to have had some impact on the surge in attendance. The show’s new locale surely was a factor as well. “The show has found a new home here at the Waldorf Astoria,” said JCK event director Desiree Hanson. “The luxurious atmosphere, high standard of service, and easier-to- shop show floor created a new level of energy, truly allowing for both our exhibitors and buyers to more easily conduct business, resulting in a very successful show for all involved.”

The show’s keynote address, presented by Scott Lachut of PSFK, kicked off the event on July 27. To close opening day, a very groovy affair was celebrated by all: an American Hustle–themed event featuring 1970s-era music and cocktails.

Lucky winners of the daily merchandise credit drawings included Melva Grimaldo of Costa Rica–based Joyeria Müller; Cindi Earl of Cindi Earl Fine Jewelry in Nashville, Tenn.; and Chris Scoville of Scoville Jewelers in Glens Falls, N.Y. “This was such an unexpected, wonderful surprise,” says Earl. “To be rewarded for doing what we came here to do, based on an entry submitted by one of our brands, makes it even sweeter.”

Bloggers were given the VIP treatment at LUXURY Privé, too, with a press and blogger preview that featured curated mini collections from 45 JCK exhibitors. JCK’s first-ever blogger luncheon was held on Tuesday, where some of the industry’s finest mixed it up. “Being a blogger and first-time attendee, I found my experience to be extremely worthwile,” said Danielle Miele of Gem Gossip. “It was one of the few events where I feel bloggers were catered to with an ideal setting. I was able to try on, touch, and feel, and take as many pictures as I wanted. I was truly in my own element.”

Reviews are in from a number of exhibitors and retailers as well:

“We were extremely pleased with LUXURY Privé. We were literally busy for two solid days. The retailers came with very positive expectations for the show and placed very nice orders.” —Lecil Henderson, Henderson Collection by Lecil

“Mémoire had a very successful three-day experience at LUXURY Privé. We not only opened three new accounts and met with a number of prospective retailers, we also met with Mémoire retailers who did not attend JCK Las Vegas.” —J. Douglas McDowell, Mémoire

“The retailers just love the environment of LUXURY Privé. If they’re happy, then I’m happy. A. Link will be back at LUXURY Privé next year.” — Doug Sills, A. Link

“The Long’s team truly enjoyed the LUXURY Privé show. In fact, it was the best year, by far. The venue was comfortably luxurious, and the ballroom had a great energy. We were able to finalize key partnerships that we started to explore in Las Vegas, and we found some new vendors to fill in those last few holes in our holiday merchandising plan. I’m looking forward to next year!” —Craig Rottenberg of Long’s Jewelers

LUXURY Privé will be back in 2015 at the Waldorf Astoria in New York City from July 26 to 28. For more information, visit luxuryprive.jckonline.com.
