Reactor to Sponsor Fishing Championship

Watch manufacturer Reactor, Agoura Hills, Calif., was named the official timing sponsor for the 2009 International Game Fish Association Offshore Championship, to be held May 10-15 in Cabo San Lucas, Mexico.

This is the first year that Reactor has participated in this event, which had been presented by Rolex since 2000. Reactor will be providing a set of four special commemorative Ion Diamond sport watches, valued at $5,000 each to the Winner’s Cup Team members.

“We are thrilled and honored to be selected as the new timing sponsor for this fun, first-class class fishing competition,” said Reactor Founder and Owner, Jimmy Olmes. “It is most significant that the IGFA’s organizers and other sponsors have provided this exciting venue to promote our company and products. The exposure alone is phenomenal, and it will be great to see our watches, which are built to withstand the rigors of extreme water sports, really get put to the test.”

The IGFA is the sanctioning body that promotes education and conservation initiatives, and tracks and certifies world fishing records. Long hailed as the “Olympics” of offshore fishing, the IGFA’s Offshore World Championship began in 2000 and has grown into the sport’s premiere offshore fishing event. To be invited to compete, teams must win one of the many qualifying events that are held in 166 countries around the world, with only the top fishermen making the trip to compete in Cabo.
