The annual Rapaport International
Diamond Conference will take place Thursday, September 10th, 2009 at
The Times Center in New York.
The theme of this year’s conference is
"New Realities." Topics include "The New Economy: from Rough Diamonds to Retail
Jewelry", "New Consumer Markets: The India Story", "The Big Stone Market: 47
Street Perspectives" and "Human Rights and the Diamond Industry: What can and
should we do?"
Presenters include: Des Kilalea,
Royal Bank of Canada; Christopher Ellis, Consensus
Advisors; India’s Mehul
Choksi, Chairman Gitanjali Group; C.K. Venkatraman,
COO of Titan Industries (Tata Group) India’s largest retail jewelry chain; presidents
of the Diamond Manufacturers and Importers Association of America; New York Diamond
Dealers Club; World Diamond Council; Jeweler’s of America; Jeweler’s Vigilance
Committee; Ian Smillie Chairman of Development Diamond Initiative; Georgette Gagnon, Director of the
Africa Division from Human Rights Watch; and Brad
Brooks-Rubin of the U.S. State Department. Martin Rapaport will also present "Riding
the Wave of Change."
