It’s spring. Not according to the calendar—or to the weather, really—but in our hearts and minds, it’s definitely spring.
With the new season comes a feeling of refreshment: The windows are open, clearing out the stuffy, dry air left by winter’s harsh heating, and you get the urge to start cleaning house. Life feels good this time of year.
Put away are the dreary colors of the past season (though personally, I can’t seem to let go of gray—my new favorite noncolor) and in their place, a sorbet-hue rainbow of pastels. Even under dull wintry skies, just the presence of these colors warm your spirits (as chicly demonstrated by Eva Chen on the chilly streets of Paris this past week, below).
The popularity of pastel shades this time of year may be attributed to Easter, or perhaps to the budding flowers that might finally start taking shape (we have a few lonely trees budding with cherry blossoms here in D.C. at the moment). Whatever the influence, you can’t deny that hopeful feeling that takes over this time of year when confronted with a wash of color, especially when the skies are still sort of gray and you spot a snowflake icon on the 10-day forecast on your phone. So do your customers a favor—particularly if you’re located in a weather-challenged part of the world—and greet them with a showcase filled with spring pastel jewels like these.
